Oicho - Next Worlds EP

Oicho is one of the many facets of David Harrow - L.A based producer behind a plethora of projects for almost 40 years. Looking back to the 90's we find him based in Berlin, working with On U Sound, Andrew Weatherall and on his own James Hardway project; and all the while expanding his sound world with a portable DAT machine, collecting audio wherever he went. Exotic voices and ethnic beats from his own travels, grabbing slices of magic from the TV, the radio, or whatever caught his ear. Fragments appeared on tracks at the time, and then the tapes lay dormant.
Over 20 years later and Herr Harrow is now based in L.A, gathering with him a mighty arsenal of contemporary analogue and digital instruments, improvising at al fresco modular meets and crafting high tech productions.

The result is Next Worlds: 4 tracks that catapult a DAT full of 90's curiosities into the present and beyond. Precision digital editing coupled with analogue modular serendipity brings complex new forms and asymmetric rhythms to the ancient sound of distant cultures. Soaring vocals and complex grooves, Utilizing MakeNoise’s Tempi and Morphagene to creat perpetual sonic motion and timeless voices mark this EP as something well beyond the daily fare of 4/4 beats and generic squidges. A reimagined past bringing a much needed breath of fresh air.
